The internal value phrase "30 kilometers a day" is based on an expedition that took place 109 years ago.
After the North Pole was reached first by the Americans, the most ambitious explorers in the world at that time wanted to be the first to reach the South Pole. So there were two competing teams, the Amundsen team from Norway and the Scott team from the United Kingdom, who wanted to be the first to do what no one had ever done before, reach the South Pole.Amundsen, Scott.
As it turned out, Amundsen's team was the first to reach the South Pole and plant the Norwegian flag a little over two months later, on December 15, 1911. Scott's heroic failure and tragic annihilation on the way home. In order to perpetuate their memory, the United States named Amundsen-Scott Station, a scientific research station built at the South Pole in 1957.

Exploring unknown territory is very similar to entrepreneurship. Therefore, when summarizing the strategy and preparation of the two teams, Wang Xing analyzed two important entrepreneurial methodologies.
First, prepare enough materials to start a business.
The Amundsen team, although small, was very, very well prepared, with three tons of supplies. Scott's team, on the other hand, had a lot of people but very little preparation, and they only had one ton of supplies.
Would one ton of supplies be enough? If you don't make any mistakes in the process, just enough to not make any mistakes at all. It's such a scary thing, it works in theory, but in reality, when you encounter a lot of pressure, when you encounter a lot of unknown difficulties, you will inevitably move out of shape and make a lot of mistakes. So, when you plan too tightly, it's very, very dangerous.
The Amundsen team did a great job, they only had five people going, but they had three tons of supplies, and they had a tremendous amount of excess. They were fully aware of the difficulties of the environment and they were well prepared, leaving room for mistakes. It was a very, very big difference, how adequate were the resources and was there room?

Second, to start a business, we must keep moving forward 30 km a day.
It's worth studying how two teams encounter similar conditions, but end up with very different results. The Amundsen team's success can be summed up in one sentence: Keep going about 30 km a day, in good weather or bad. You want to be the best you can be in an extreme environment, but, more importantly, you want to be the best you can be sustainably.
On the contrary, Scott's team, judging by their logbook, was a more spontaneous team, going very hard when the weather was good, maybe 40, 50 or even 60 kilometers. But when the weather is bad, they sleep in tents, eat something, curse the weather, curse their luck, and hope it clears up and they can move forward as soon as possible.
Of course I think there is another crucial detail that has not been mentioned, and that is that Amundsen used the most advanced transportation equipment available at the time.
The most advanced transportation equipment used in the Antarctic expedition 109 years ago was the dog sled. Amundsen, who had learned this skill from the Eskimos because of his long history of polar expeditions, purchased 50 dogs for his expeditions to the South Pole. He procured 50 dogs for the expedition to the South Pole, and slaughtered 24 of them as a temporary supply when supplies ran low.
The tragedy for Scott was that he used 8 ponies for transportation to the South Pole, but they all froze to death shortly afterwards because they were not acclimated to the climate. As a result, they were unable to carry more than a few supplies, and it was a matter of sheer military will to make it to the South Pole.
